Leeds Castle Group

The National Tax Service joins the Leeds Castle Group, which is an inter-governmental
tax organization including Australia, Canada, China, France, Germany, India,
Japan, Korea, the United Kingdom, and the United States
. Its annual full member
meeting will be held in Canada in January 2007.



This Group intends to enhance working relationships and mutual understanding
among the Commissioners of major tax administrations, discuss strategies for
sound tax administration, and coordinate concerted efforts in dealing with global
tax evasion schemes.



As a member of this Group, the NTS will continue to further its innovations
and abide by global standards, thus enhancing organizational capabilities and
quality of tax administration. Specifically, by participating in this Group,
the NTS will be able to:



◆ Contribute valuable input in the area of formulating
uniform tax administration practices


◆ Facilitate tax compliance by Korean business operating
in the global market


◆ Enhance organizational capabilities in dealing with
global tax evasion through the implementation of coordinated inter-governmental
efforts such as the exchange of information and assistance in the collection
of taxes


◆ Gain easier and wider access to global best practices
from which new ideas can be benchmarked



* Leeds Castle Group meetings will be held
on an informal and confidential basis. In Korea, for the benefit of easy reference
by the media, the Group will be called the “G10 Commissioners’ Meeting.”
